National Dignity Day
I held an event in ENT Outpatients Department which included tea, coffee, and cake as I wanted to show that we care as a department about patients dignity and them as individuals. In addition I had created two trees with cut out leaves whereby patients could describe in one word what dignity meant to them and then attach them to the trees. Adults and Children were curious as to what the posters and resources stood for, so once they had checked into reception they came and had a chat with me, wrote on a leaf, had a coffee, and gave feedback about care they had received. One patient said 'Dignity to him strongly meant - "respect at all times regardless"'. I really enjoyed doing the event and had some interesting discussions with patients around the topic. I look forward to doing something similar in the future.
