Our Digni-Tree Day

Dignity in Action Day at Rusthall Lodge Care Home (Rusthall, Kent) was a joyous celebration of 'Respect', 'Dignity', 'Self-Respect', 'Worth' and CAKE! Residents had built a beautiful Digni-Tree which was on display in the main lounge festooned with leaves. Each leaf had written on it, one word that conjured up 'dignity' to each resident.

With over twenty Dignity Champions in the Home, the main driving force behind today's event was Nursing Manager, Sarah Pierce who has also been instrumental in steering staff from all departments to join the National campaign.

There were decorative biscuits made by local school children, beautiful glittery cakes prepared by the catering team and an art display put together by the residents. Residents, staff and visitors took the time to sit down and share a cup of Digni-Tea and chat away the hours about any subject that arose.

The Dignity in Care campaign was launched in November 2006, and aims to put dignity and respect at the heart of UK care services and it certainly does that here at Rusthall Lodge.
