Richmond Pamper Day

Richmond Retirement Village in Hospital Lane, Bedworth has been backing the Government’s Dignity in Care campaign by making its mark on Dignity Action Day.

Richmond Village, which is committed to providing dignified care, marked the occasion on Thursday 25th February by providing a pamper day for the residents. A group of beauty therapists from Heart of England Training College in Coventry kindly agreed to assist by providing mini treatments to the residents.

The team at Richmond Village are supporters of the Government’s Dignity in Care campaign which aims to end indignity in health and social care services through raising awareness and inspiring people to take action. Staff members Louise Smith, Mel-Sue Walton and Kerrie Paxton have signed up to the scheme as national Dignity Champions to represent the campaign in the care home on a daily basis.

General Manager of Richmond Village, Louise Thompson said: “We take great pride in working with the people who live here and continuously strive to provide high quality care, making our home a happy place to live. Care is not just about clinical excellence but also making sure that people in care feel good about themselves and successful at everyday tasks. Treating someone with the dignity that they deserve can be the difference between care and good care.”

Edith Edwards, a resident at Richmond Village care home, said: “I am able to speak to my key workers whenever I need to and the activity co-ordinators are always around for a chat. My opinions are important and I feel like I matter again.”

The Dignity in Care campaign was launched by Barchester Healthcare, in November 2008 with Michael Parkinson and Care Services Minister, Phil Hope.
