Pamper and Show
Bickham House has been a Dignity Champion since 2007. Although we treat every day as a dignity day, we thought we would make Dignity Action Day extra special.
The morning kicked off with a pamper morning involving all residents and staff, this involved:-
Chiropody
Foot Spa
Hand Massage
Head Massage
Facials
Make-over's (make up)
Nail care and polish
BY 12 m/d all resident's male and female hand undergone some form of pampering if not all that was on offer, The response was extremely positives with lots of ooh's and aah's and laughter from both staff and resident's.
The afternoon was a treat in that all staff took part in a Gang Show in the main lounge for resident's and visitors. Seven acts later and myraid of colourful costume changes ended in rapturous applause. The residen'ts loved the show, several getting up to toast us at the end with a well deserved sherry and chocolates!
The act's included:-
YMCA
Swan lake
She wears red feathers and a hula hula skirt
The Candy Man
These boots are made for walking
All I want is a room somewhere
and the finale of Dancing Queen!
The only sour note of the day, was lack of support from relatives. Only one visitor turned up and she is a regular visitor who still visits once a week despite her mother passing away at Bickham last December. The event had been advertised with large posters around the home and the porch and also the day's itinerary and information in the monthly in-house newsletter.
