Andy Burnham's vision for a patient centred NHS

Last week, Secretary of State, gave a speech setting out his vision for the NHS - he clearly sees dignity and patient experience as a key priority.

It included linking patient satisfaction on experience (including dignity) through to a new financial framework that rewards quality; recognising that staff satisfaction is crucial too and proposing measures for staff satisfaction; encouraging greater staff and public say in what the NHS prioritises and greater public empowerment and acountability to the public for quality care and patient experience

"A hospital could appear to be doing well, ticking all the right boxes, but not good enough in the eyes of its local public on things that weren't measures but mattered more to them- dignity, cleanliness, how they were spoken to and yes, car parking" Andy Burnham, Secretary of State for Health
