Ending Age Discrimination in Health and Social Care- join the debate
The Department of Health has launched a National Review of age discrimination in health and social care. It will be rooted in the South West Region and will be led by Sir Ian Carruthers and Jan Ormondroyd, but it will also be working with other Regions. The purpose of the Review is to advise the Government on how to implement the ban on age discrimination and other age-related duties in the Equality Bill currently going through Parliament.
There is a strong link between the Dignity Campaign and the work to tackle age discrimination. The Dignity in Care Campaign is working to change the behaviour, attitudes and assumptions that can often lie behind poor care - and also feeds in to age discrimination.
There are two ways in which you can participate in the Review-
1. You can respond to the 'call for evidence' at agediscriminationreview@dh.gsi.gov.uk with your views of the key issues and challenges in tackling age discrimination, and what the priority action should be.
2. You can take part in the debate on the Dignity Champions Discussion forum
