New learning framework for working with LGBTQ+ people in later life

This new learning framework for working with LGBTQ+ people in later life (opens new window) aims to provide a base for identifying the insights, knowledge, understanding and skills that the social care workforce need to help them work affirmatively, inclusively and effectively with individuals from gender and sexually diverse communities. This project was funded by Skills for Care and was developed by Dr Trish Hafford-Letchfield (University of Strathclyde) in collaboration with the LGBT Foundation.

The learning framework identifies and articulates more systematically, the key topics that should underpin best practices with LGBTQ+ older people and their carers, and advocates in social care.

It can be used in a number of different ways such as for the development of new learning programmes; to enhance what you already have or to improve the quality and inclusiveness of the services you provide.
