Training Events in the South West Area
The South West Dignity in Care Team will be hosting a series of FREE events throughout September for Dignity Champions.
· Tuesday 14th September - EXETER
· Thursday 16th September - BATH
· Tuesday 21st September - DORCHESTER
Dignity champions are invited to come along to one of these events to show your support and find out the latest information on the campaign, the resources available to you and what is happening locally. It's an excellent opportunity to meet with other registered champions, to network, share ideas and best practice.

Additional training will be taking place in Cornwall on Wednesday 8th September 2010 at Kingsley Village, A30 Penhale, Fraddon, Cornwall, TR9 6NA which is an additional event in the Cornwall area to support Dignity Champions. You will meet with a range of people who have dignity at the heart of what they do. You will find out how to access useful resources and you will participate in workshops that will result in innovative solutions to dignity issues. Dignity champions based in Plymouth and the surrounding areas may wish to know that a group of organisations are planning an event in Plymouth on Monday 6th September at Forresters Business Park aimed at helping existing Dignity Champions to network together and to provide support to each other in the future. There are some strong initiatives with Dignity at their heart in the Plymouth area and we are really keen to ensure that Champions know about these things and that they continue to be well supported and encouraged to promote their good practice both as individuals and as groups. The main partners for this event will be your Regional Dignity in Care Team through Age Concern Regional Support Services, Plymouth Dignity in Care Homes Forum, Plymouth LINk, Venus Training, and Plymouth Age Concern.

For Dignity Champions based in the Torbay area, the Torbay Safeguarding Board are intending to make contact with Dignity Champions in Torbay to personally thank them for their enthusiasm and commitment to the Dignity agenda, they are very keen to ensure that Champions continue to be supported in the future.
Their partners from Torbay LINk and Torbay Age Concern are keen to support this process and would like to facilitate the setting up of a Dignity Forum. Louise Hawkins, the local Dignity in Care Development Worker will be joining up with Torbay LINk in Brixham on Friday 10th September to raise awareness of health and Social care involvement and to promote Dignity in Care.
