Westgate House

The Dignity postcards this year were welcomed by a number of Residents in Westgate House & they said

  • "I am very happy living at Westgate House and all the staff treat me well."
  • Others felt environmental enrichment with the friends they had made within the Nursing Home.
  • Loneliness and isolation were not an issue for residents.
  • Listening from staff was felt to be paramount.

It is wonderful to feel that Residents are feeling safe within an environment that addresses any worries & concerns as they arise.

Kindness, respect & compassion have been given by all members of staff helping Residents to live as independent a life as possible.

Family & relatives have been able to contact their loved ones as Government rules have allowed.

The staff have shown during this pandemic- Covid 19 great committment & passion in their Care towards Residents.

All had chocolate hearts on a large cake on each of the three units on 1st February 2021 Dignity Action Day and also on separate cup cakes thoroughly enjoyed.

Three staff were nominated for their Dignity & Respect shown to Residents over a number of years.

  1. Sophie Gapper on the Kingfisher Residential unit
  2. Emma Cheng on the Elderly Mentally Infirm Unit
  3. Luba Lowe on Nightingale the Nursing Unit for the Orders of St Johns' Care Trust.

I feel Westgate House has maintained Dignity for its Elderly Residents in the Pandemic keeping them Safe with person - led individualized Care with ultimate outcomes for Staff & Residents well-being.

We have been free of Covid 19 within our Nursing Home of 61 Residents.
