WHERE IS THE DISABLED PEOPLE PERSONAL CARE WHEN WE HAVE GOT A ACTIVITIES SHEETS TO WRITE IN EVERY DAY?
CAN THE RESIDENTS HAVE A ACTIVITIES SHEETS FOR THE STAFF?
IT IS ALL OVER FOR STAFF TO KEEP THEIR JOBS.

hello Bob- How I wish more residents were able to comment on care given. On that point I agree with you.
However I think that some sort of note is essential if you are in any sort of paid care. I would expect any paid carer to fill in a record , as part of accountability, in the same way as any surgeon, operating on me would keep a note! That's life. In fact it is one of the concerns I have about personal budget holding etc. In the same way, carers must keep notes on financial transactions etc. Note taking will prevent abuse, -well sometimes anyway. Not ideal, but hey-ho, this is not a perfect world!

Next lane they are telling people treat the disabled people the same like as
else

Where I am currently working we use communication books between us and the home where we comment on what the person has done during the day - comment on health, behaviour, achievements and so on. I wasn't sure at first if it was the right thing to do, but useful information is shared and the books are read first thing int he morning to see if there is anything we need to be aware of. each persona has a learning disability and we encourage everyone to add their own comments too! Its a great way of reviewing the day together.

I agree with Dawud here, I work in the community and sometimes have difficulty in communicating with the Clients i have. the way i do it can vary from day to day, ranging any thing from verbal to writing things down for clients to read to showing objects or pictures. some of the Client i have delt with use special equipment. these all work, using any of these tecniques work well some times it might be a combination of these. This way you can find out what service users want to do which keeps their induvidualty.

When person i go to is in a Care home, i'm not able to find out all the interests he has because there is a lack of it at this home and the person has demntia, but we will sometimes go for a walk or sit and chat quite happly
