Dorset Dignity Action event

Some points to share with everyone from my visit to Dorset yesterday: two people in one care home one person taking the time to communicate, empower and feed a person with dignity the other doing just the opposite - standing over the person discussing whats on tele? This was shared as observed practice by a person from CQC - the manager was invited to observe practice in the home more!! The way that labelling and language is so often impacting on delivering with dignity - going to do the feeds -sorting the resi's!!!!!!! A very positive aspect of practice - Dorset Partners in Care are working on a European Dignity project. They have many people who have experienced the sTimul effect - its on You tube so moving what an experience. People actually assume a disability or two - they are supported by trainee care workers in a simulated environment for, I believe a whole day including having to wee their inco pants if they declared they were incontinent - really impactive results. All this wonderful work going on across the country we must continue to share - so please don't be shy - share what you are doing people are looking for something new to stimulate others. All part of the campaign to uphold dignity remember TEAM together everyone can achieve more.
