Pay care workers the London Living Wage

Bryan McMorrine 14/03/16 Dignity Champions forum

The Living Wage for London is seen as a minimum hourly rate to be able to afford rent, eat and have any sort of standard of living in London. However, no law is being passed to make employers pay this rate; it is at the discretion of each employer, something that we feel is unfair.

Right at Home Central London is a strong advocate for the London Living Wage. We pay all our employees above this rate yet charge in-line with other home care providers in the area.

We encourage all home care providers in Central London to join us in paying all care workers a fair living wage for London.

Hi Bryan,

Your post makes a change - I usually read claims that Care Providers are so 'financially squeezed' as to be really struggling to pay their staff: so, it makes me wonder how your organisation can afford to pay the living wage, and not charge users more than other care providers which pay their staff less.
