Joint Improvement Partnership - London Region

Preserving and enhancing the dignity of all who use our services, their carers and of those who work in them

The London Region Dignity in Care Reference Group (the Reference Group) commissioned this report. It outlines the work of the Reference Group since March 2010, draws conclusions from the outcome of that work and makes recommendations for improving the commissioning, management and delivery of services in London within the context of dignity in care.

It is one of six work-streams established by the London Association of Directors of Adult Social Services (ADASS) to implement the Government's agenda on transforming care services through personalisation, putting service users and carers at the centre of service design and increasing choice and control.

The overview report and the conference report can be downloaded at the bottom of the page

The six self selected pilot sites were:

  • Royal Borough Kensington and Chelsea
  • Haringey
  • Harrow
  • Ealing
  • Westminster
  • Central and North West London Mental Health Trust

Example of good practice:

The Royal Borough of Kensinton and Chelsea actively works to promote links between residents across services to increase socialisation and reduce isolation. A reminiscence project includes residents both with and without dementia and provides some heart-warming 'windows of opportunity'. One resident had become very isolated and withdrawn following the loss of a dear friend. She clearly benefited from the service and staff saw a significant change in her well being as she became an outgoing and engaged individual.
