Trafford Dignity in Care awards for local care homes

Providing the highest quality dignity in care has secured six local care homes Trafford Council's 'Dignity in Care' awards.

Representatives from the Council, Trafford Dignity Forum, Trafford Carers Centre, Age Concern, local voluntary organisations and the 50+ partnership were involved in developing the awards.

They link into the national Dignity in Care campaign, where Dignity Champions work towards improving local care home, hospital and home help services.

The awards recognise care providers willing to go the extra mile to make sure their residents, some of the most vulnerable people in Trafford, are treated in a dignified, respectful way.

To demonstrate this all six homes had to show how they met each of 10 Dignity Challenges

The six homes who received their award from Trafford Executive Councillor Michael Young are: Bickham House, Bowdon, The Conifers, Old Trafford, Handsworth Methodist Home, Bowdon, Kilpeacon House, Altrincham, The Knoll, Urmston and Shawe House, Flixton.

Cllr Young said: "It was a pleasure presenting these awards. The Council is committed to work with all service providers to make sure they are able to provide the best possible dignified, caring support for their residents.

Each of these award winners faced the toughest judging - with volunteer citizen assessors evaluating the care they provided and residents and families comments also being taken into account.

Their commitment to providing support in a dignified, caring way is clear for everyone to see. I would like to congratulate them once again on their achievements. We'll work closely with each of the homes and all our service providers to make sure every local person receiving our support continues to be respected and treated in a dignified way."
