Welcome home

We held a celebration for the return of an old friend to Nyton House. Gerald had to move to a nursing home when he needed more help that the council felt he was able to given in a care home. The management and staff at Nyton, along with Gerald's family did their best to keep Gerald in the home but the local council made a more unavoidable.

In January this year Gerald won his battle to return to Nyton House, his home for 18 years prior to moving to a nursing home. The nursing home where he was taken just was not the same as what Nyton House offered, a home from home. Gerald kept asking to go home, back to Nyton House.

Nyton House in the mean time fought the council at the high court and won their judicial review and had their contract reinstated with WSCC.

On the 7th January 2013 we celebrated Geralds return.

Dignity is being able to live where you want to live, with staff supporting you in the way you wish.

Home is where the heart is and this should be upheld as far as is practically possible.
