Digni-Tea Party

We had a really lovely day at Chestnut House Nursing Home in Charlton Down Dorchester.

It started the week leading up to the 1st Feb with all our three floors making our Dignity trees with the residents help.

Our day on the first consisted of blowing up 50 balloons each with a Dignity awareness message on from our residents staff and family. We wrote our telephone no on the back of each one so if the balloons get found the person can phone us and we can plot on a map how far they went.

Residents families and friends joined us and the Mayor of Dorchester as she released the balloons into the sky with lots of laughter and claps,

The Mayor had a tour of our nursing home visiting the residents that could not attend the event and saw our Dignity Trees and our new Sensory room which she was very impressed with.

The day ended in a huge tea party with lots of home made cakes and the mayor going round talking to everyone.

One of our residents gave the mayor a wonderful bouquet of flowers and gave a small speech thanking her for taking the time coming to our home.

We are now looking forward to next years event.
