Hazeldene Unit
Here at Hazeldene it was our first time hosting Dignity In Action Day and we are proud to report that it was a great success!
Family and friends were invited to join residents for an afternoon tea dance themed around 'Our Favourite Musicals'. In the weeks leading up to the event staff and residents voted on which musicals should feature with South Pacific, The Phantom of the Opera, On The Town, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, Top Hat and Easter Parade coming in on top. Everyone worked very hard planning the music for the day and making the props and decorations for the tables.
During the afternoon staff members, visitors and residents were asked to think about what the term dignity meant to them. We all then wrote short statements on music notes which we displayed on our specially designed 'Dignity Wall'. This information will remain visible on the unit over the coming year and will be used to support us all in ensuring we continue to treat those around us with dignity and respect.
There was singing, dancing, laughter and lots of cakes throughout the afternoon – a memorable day for everyone.
Thank you to everyone for your help and support in making the day so special - Jane Storey Dignity Champion.
