Caledonian Court

Caledonian Court, Larbert.

We organised our Dignity Day with the service user Choices in mind and asked them to imagine what

would be their 'Perfect Day', and where able we would try to accommodate over the next year.

We started the day in the EMI Unit where staff and families helped the Service User's to complete forms

asking them what their 'Perfect day' would consist of. It was a very relaxed morning with lots of different

ideas and suggestions.

Some very simple for us to do, others a bit more involved, for example:

? One gentleman would like nothing more than spending the day in the 'Bookies, and popping into

the pub next door'.

? Another would like to visit his old golf club and spend time at the '19th Hole'.

? The ladies opted for the weekly shop to be done by them.

? Other suggestions were a day at the seaside and a fish supper.

All of these suggestions are easily achievable with a little bit of thought and help.

In the afternoon we continued in the FE Unit, with a coffee afternoon and entertainment from 'Laith and

Jenny'.

Again family and staff supported Service User's to complete forms.

? One gentleman would like to visit Tenby in Wales as he recalls a really enjoyable holiday there with

his late wife.

? One lady would like to visit Sweden as that's where her mother was born, we maybe can't take

her to Sweden but we can bring Sweden to her.

We are continuing to take suggestions over the next week. It was a very interesting day and we learned

a lot more about our Service User's and what makes them happy, most of the time it's the simple things

that make the difference. We hope to give our Service User's either part of or all of their wishes over the next year. Of course we will need help with this but, I'm sure, “ with a little help from our friends, we can do it!”
