Here at Doubleday Lodge we celebrated Dignity Action Day on February 25th - but what to do? What about a local celebrity helping? Aiming high we asked Paul O'Grady to join us, regrettably he was busy but sent his best wishes, a signed photo and a "nodding Olga" I am very pleased to say Olga has fitted in well amongst our residents and even has her own care plan.
We started our day with Music for Health. This group provide music therapy and bring various musical instruments for the residents to play and provide a wide variety of music. Our residents do enjoy these sessions.
In the afternoon I arranged a game of "Deal or no Deal" to keep the fun going. It took weeks to collect 22 shoes boxes from the local shoe shop and cover them in red shiny paper, they looked pretty impressive and were a nice visual effect for the residents even if I do say so myself.
As Dignity Champion for Doubleday Lodge I am working hard to raise awareness for this campaign and am really pleased to see others joining in this worthy cause.
