Mini Donkey Derby

On Saturday 29th June, Pelham House Care Home in Folkestone held an open day in the form of a Mini Donkey Derby. Dice were thrown and children riding Stick Donkeys played around a track that was similar to the old Snakes and Ladders game. Pin the tail, Tombola, Face painting, BBQ, Cream teas, 3 visiting school choirs and a delightful little donkey named Florence all formed part of the afternoons entertainment.

Approximately 300 people visited the Home over of the afternoon with the glorious UK sun shining down; a wonderful afternoon was enjoyed by staff, residents, family, friends and visitors.

The event was held to uphold Dignity in Care and bridge the gap between old and young, home and community. This challenge is led by the National Dignity Council, with Dignity Champions forming part of a nationwide network of 120,000+ individuals and organisations who work to put dignity and respect at the heart of UK care services to enable a positive experience of care.
