Tea with dignity

IT was tea and cakes all round for residents at a Netherton care home as they celebrated Dignity Action Day.

Staff at Ashgrove care centre in Dudley Wood Road, held a 1940s indoor street party to mark the national day which aimed to raise awareness of the importance of dignity in care.

As well as holding the street party, staff and residents also made cakes which they sold to relatives, and made a display board of old photos of the residents for a ‘guess the baby’ competition, as well as enjoying dancing session.

And everyone got into the swing of things by dressing in 1940s costume.

Vicki Duficy, activity co-ordinator, said: “We had a fantastic day, it was brilliant and the residents all really enjoyed themselves.

“We are definitely going to do something like this again. We all had great fun."
