Dignity Celebration
Dignity Champions at Bloxwich Hospital hosted a celebration of Dignity in Care. We are an Older Adults Mental Health Service caring for people with organic & functional illness. We thought it would be lovely to have someone of stature help us raise awareness of the importance of dignity in care.
The Mayor & Mayoress of Walsall attended the hospital to join our celebration, marking the day with a commemorative cake; specially made for the Dignity Action Day. The Mayor and Mayoress cut the cake before sharing it with service users and a nice cup of tea.
The Mayor & Mayoress met our services users on the ward, they were received with warmth, all of our gentlemen showed their respect as they stood to greet and shake the hand of the Mayor and Mayoress.
The hospital looked lovely as we dressed it with balloons and decorations. Relatives, carers and families were all invited to enable them to see that dignity in care is as important to us as the people receiving our care.
We all had a lovely day and I am happy to say we have 3 new Dignity Champions since the action day.
