Musical Memories

To show our support in the ethos of Dignity in Action Day, we took a trip down Memory Lane.

At Age UK South Staffordshire Day Opportunities for Older people with complex needs, we believe that music is a major vehicle by which to engage and connect with people who have a dementia.

We invited John Gibson, a vocalist, entertainer, instrumentalist and story teller who took us on a “Trip Down Memory Lane”, ensuring all in attendance were involved and engaged .

Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the day. The afternoon was full of song and dance, with some people following the rhythm of the music with a strumming of the fingers or a tapping of a foot. The more adventurous had a go at a musical instrument. The afternoon finished with a 1940’s style buffet.

At Age UK South Staffordshire the person is central, their needs and individuality. The person always comes first. Staff are compassionate, treat people as the individuals they are. Respect, Privacy and Dignity, is at the heart of all training, part of staff inductions and is the philosophy on which Age UK South Staffordshire pride themselves and succeed in quality care.
