Purple Theme
For Dignity Action Day at Hebden Vale Day Center, we made Purple our theme. Staff and some of the people who use our Service wore purple clothes. We made Purple ribbons to wear too, and we suggested a small donation to go towards our Amenities Fund, so most people bought one and wore it to show their support.
We decorated the inside of the Center and the windows with Purple Balloons, and we placed laminated speech bubbles with Quotes saying how they are treated with Dignity at our Day Center, facing outwards for the passing public to read. We also put posters along the window to raise awareness in the Community. People from the town even took Photographs of the Bridge, and some asked what it was all about!
Our Activities included a Quiz, Discussions and Word Games, all that included Dignity Words, and a Word Game about things that included the Colour Purple.
We used some Cartoon Senarios to show the difference between Good and Poor Practice, and discussed some that we might have come across in our lives.
Aswell as the Purple Ribbons, we also sold Raffle Tickets to help raise awareness and money for our Amenties.
We talked to people who use this Service, and explained what Dignity Action Day meant, and why we, as a Centre, were taking part.
These Activities were ongoing from Monday to friday, so that People who use the Day Center on other Days could be part of Dignity Awareness, and on Friday 1st February, we invited members of the local Royd Square L. D. Center to join us for lunch and join in the afternoon Activities. In the afternoon,The Choir from Hebden Royd Primary Scool kindly agreed to come and sin some of their favourite songs for us.
All people who use both Centers, Children and Staff, thoroughly enjoyed the day, and went home feeling united as a Community on Dignity Action Day 2013!
