Dignity day at TOPS
Our first Dignity day at Top day care centre was planned for 1st of February. During the week, I decided to create a dignity tree to bring awareness to both staff and service users on what dignity means. I designed a tree out of cardboard and got some staff to help with cutting of leaves from green cards. I then asked the staff and service users for what they understood dignity to mean in one word, these words were written on the leaves and attached to the tree. On the day itself I baked a cake and decorated it using the dignity network logo. We also make the day different by allowing the service user's to make choices on activities they wanted to do because not all of them wanted to have their hands and feet massaged. Some chose to sing along to karaoke while some watched bad had a good laugh, others read magazines, colouring and dancing and one service user decided to continue with his mat making using wool. The service user's enjoyed themselves.
